Bachelor of Library and Information Science(B.L.I.Sc.) In Mumbai University

From the academic year 1997-98, the nomenclature of the degree changed to Bachelor of Library and Information Science(B.L.I.Sc.). The earlier B.Lib.Sc. course was first revised in 1978, so as to strengthen the professional contents and to include the modern techniques of documentation and information studies. The course was further revised in 1995-96. Obsolete subjects were dropped and new subjects in tune with current developments were introduced. The contents of the old courses were revised.

ELIGIBILITY

A candidate for the Degree in Library Science shall have passed a Degree examination in any faculty of the University of Mumbai or of a University recognised by this University. Those who have appeared for the final year Bachelors Degree examination of University of Mumbai and whose results are not likely to be declared before the last date (i.e. 30th June) may also apply. Their admission will be finalised on their passing the qualifying examination in the required merit.

STANDARD FOR PASSING THE EXAMINATION

R.1890-To pass the examination, a candidate must obtain minimum of 35% of marks in each of the written papers and a minimum of 40% in all the papers taken together and minimum of 40% of the marks in each head of practical examination and minimum of 50% of the marks in all the heads of the practical examination taken together.

CLASS IMPROVEMENT

Candidates who have passed B.L.I.Sc. examination of this University and who wish to improve their class and/or percentage are permitted to appear again for the same examination with the same subjects without being required to keep any terms.
