B) One applied component subject is to be offered which has two theory papers and a practical.
The applied component subjects offered are as follows:
1) Chemistry: Drugs & Dyes
2) Physics: Electronic Instrumentation/Computer Science
3) Mathematics: Computer Programming & Systems Analysis
4) Statistics: Operations Research
5) Zoology: Fishery Biology
6) Botany: Horticulture & Gardening

Each of the four papers from group A is of 100 marks with a practical of 50 marks each based on individual theory papers. The break up of marks for applied component papers from group B is as follows. Applied component paper I – theory – 60 practical – 40. Applied component paper II theory – 60 practical – 40. Total of A and B is 600 + 200 = 800. Note that the marks obtained by the candidate in the applied component will be taken into account for the award of class at the third year B.Sc. examination.
